Those last few kibbles might have gotten between Goliath and a clean escape. But after weeks of stealing food from a Gresham garage, the flabby tabby found himself stuck
— head and shoulders outside the doggie door, gut and tail inside. The homeowner helped dislodge the sweet, playful 20.2-pound cat, kindly gave him a good meal, then delivered him Wednesday to the Oregon Humane Society, where he awaits his owner or a new adoptive personal chef.

I don't know a cat that heavy doesn't seem like a stray. Just a smart kitty getting his fill of kibbles & bits. I don't allow mine out but 3 days for individuals that do doesn't seem long enough to claim them. Hope kitty finds a good home and someone who puts him on a health diet ;).

which is almost what happened here! - owner guy went for a heart/lung transplant op and the housesitter was a bit crap and Hercules (Goliath's real name) just took off. They were reunited soon after this news item. See fat cat 2 for the happiest of endings
